1. Bryan Park - 4308 Hermitage Rd, Richmond, VA 23227
   One of the best stargazing locations within the Richmond City Limits, Bryan Park is a picturesque public green space with great views of the night sky. Besides open picnic areas and lawns, the park also has more secluded, wooded areas with trails and a pond. The Richmond Astronomical Society sometimes hosts Skywatch events, which are open to the public, at Bryan Park. You'll find the park north of Downtown and a short drive from many Richmond homes for sale. 
   
   
2. Pocahontas State Park - 10301 State Park Rd, Chesterfield, VA 23832
   Spanning 7,950 wild, scenic acres, Pocahontas State Park is a great place to get away from the city and reconnect with nature. The park has several picnic areas and open lakeshores that provide unbroken views of the night sky. Camping is available for overnight visits, and the park also offers 90 miles of trails to explore. Pocahontas State Park is located just minutes from many Chesterfield homes for sale and has frequently been the location of stargazing programs with the Crewe Astronomy Club. 
   
   
3. Science Museum of Virginia - 2500 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220
   In addition to being an amazing attraction for anyone interested in science and the natural world, the Science Museum of Virginia is also a hub of activity for local stargazers and astronomers. Skywatch events are hosted on the museum lawn by the Richmond Astronomical Society on the third Friday of each month, and they're open to anyone who would like to attend. Feel free to bring your own telescope or take a look through one of the Society members' telescopes, which will be set up on the lawn and made available for anyone with an interest in the stars.
   
   
4. Powhatan State Park - 4616 Powhatan State Park Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139
   Though less than an hour from Richmond, Powhatan State Park is far enough away that the city lights are a little dimmer and the night sky quite a lot clearer. It's a beautiful place to set up your telescope and cast your gaze skyward. The park's picnic areas, open meadows, and wildlife observation areas provide great views of the night sky, and light pollution is minimal. Located on a bend in the might James River, Powhatan State Park is also a great place for camping, canoeing, hiking, and wildlife viewing.
